МАЛЫШЕВ Вадим Александрович
(1938 – 2022)
Выдающийся российский ученый в области математики и математической физики, доктор физико-математических наук, профессор, лауреат Государственной премии РСФСР.
В. А. Малышев родился 13 апреля 1938 г. в Москве. В 1961 г. окончил механико-математический факультет МГУ и аспирантуру Отделения математики в 1965 году. В 1966 г. защитил кандидатскую диссертацию «Статистическая теория экспериментов с автоматами», в 1973 г. – докторскую диссертацию на тему «Краевые задачи для функций двух комплексных переменных и их приложения». Лауреат Государственной премии РФ (1991). На кафедре теории вероятностей МГУ работал с 1967 года, сначала в должности старшего научного сотрудника. С 1987 г. В. А. Малышев – ведущий научный сотрудник кафедры. В 1991 г. он основал и возглавил Лабораторию больших случайных систем на механико-математическом факультете МГУ. Звание профессора получил в 1992 г. Читал курсы «Математика и физика», «Многокомпонентные системы и математическая физика», «Введение в математические модели», «Введение в современные вероятностные модели».
В 1994 г. В. А. Малышев создал международный математический журнал «Markov Processes and Related Fields» и стал его главным редактором. Более 15 лет работал в крупнейшем научно-исследовательском институте Франции INRIA и сыграл огромную роль в международном сотрудничестве учёных.
Научные достижения учёного известны в самых разных областях математики: математическая физика, теория вероятностей, алгебра, анализ. Математическую науку он всегда мыслил как единое целое Основные научные результаты В. А. Малышева:
– Создание аналитической теории для двумерных уравнений Винера-Хопфа;
– Создание и развитие новых методов в теории случайных блужданий в многомерных конусах с использованием функций Ляпунова, а также жидкостный подход;
– Создание и развитие нового направления в теории вероятностей: случайные и квантовые грамматики;
– Создание и развитие новой техники кластерных разложений для спектральных задач динамических систем бесконечного числа частиц в математической физике. За эту работу В. А. Малышеву совместно с Р. А. Минлосом была присуждена Государственная премия.

В. А. Малышев – основоположник крупной вероятностно-аналитической школы, он воспитал более двух десятков учеников — кандидатов и докторов наук. Автор свыше 240 статей и 16 книг. Организатор и участник большого количества международных математических конференций.
Вадима Александровича Малышева отличали принципиальность, активная гражданская позиция, преданность работе, неравнодушие к окружающим его людям. Он был многолетним участником знаменитого Добрушинского семинара Института проблем передачи информации РАН, был членом редколлегии журнала «Проблемы передачи информации».
Поразительна широта внематематических интересов Вадима Александровича и глубина его погружения в предмет. Он любил музыку, прекрасно играл на фортепиано, и собрал большую нотную библиотеку фортепианной музыки. Он создал свою философскую систему и изложил её в книге «Цепочки качественной сложности». В. А. Малышев создал собственную систему поддержания здоровья и энергии. Хотел понять, как в живом поддерживается жизнь, как она потом прекращается и как её продлить. Его философские размышления и даже математические работы последних лет были дорогой, ведущей к разгадке этой тайны.
С детских лет он много читал и собирал книги. В годы учёбы в университете часами просиживал в Библиотеке имени Ленина. Очень любил подсобный фонд математического отдела библиотеки. Искал книги (в первую очередь математические, но не только), выбирая те, что казались ему понятными и интересными. «Я предпочитал сначала просматривать побольше самых разных книг на интересную мне тему, – говорил Вадим Александрович. – Потом читать какие-то из них, и думать на какие вопросы в этих книгах нет ответа». В последние годы создал грандиозную электронную библиотеку, которой делился со студентами.
У Вадима Александровича всегда было множество планов на будущее, которыми он щедро делился с коллегами и друзьями. Он охотно привлекал их к решению новых задач и вовлекал в свои проекты все новых коллег, становившихся его соавторами и соратниками. Всеохватность и широта взглядов характеризует все его начинания в науке и жизни.
Vadim Aleksandrovich Malyshev

An outstanding Russian scientist in the field of mathematics and mathematical physics, Doctor of Sciences, professor at Moscow State university, Head of the Laboratory of Large Random Systems, (Moscow State University), laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR (1991).
V.A.Malyshev was born on 13th April 1938 in Moscow. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University in 1961 and completed his PhD studies at the Mathematics Division in 1965. He was awarded a PhD degree in 1966 for the Thesis “Statistical theory of experiments with automata”. In 1973 he received a DrSci degree for the Thesis “Boundary problems for functions of two complex variables and their applications”.
V.A. Malyshev became a Laureate of the State premium of the Russian Federation in 1991.
Starting in 1967 V.A. Malyshev worked all his life at the Probability Department of Moscow State University, where in 1992 he became a Professor in Mathematics.
V.A. Malyshev founded the Laboratory for Large Random Systems within the Department of Machanics and Mathematics, MSU, in 1991, and remained to be the Head of this laboratory.
V.A. Malyshev was a passioned teacher of mathematics. He developed and taught himself many courses, such as “Mathematics and Physics”, “Many- component systems and mathematical physics”, “Introduction to mathematical models”, “Introduction to modern probability models”. For many years he was a co-organiser famous ”Big Seminar” (Bol’shoy seminar) in Statistical Physics at the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of MSU, an active participant of the celebrated Dobrushin’s seminar at the Institute for Information Transmission Problems (IITP). He served as an editor of the journal “Problems of Information Transmission”.
In 1994 Vadim Aleksandrovich became the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the new journal “Markov Processes and Related Fields”, the unique independent Russian mathematical journal publishing in English without any external funding, which had won a high reputation in the scientific world. He worked actively on this journal until his very last days. He criticised the approach to science as a collection of small incremental results arguing that each article should show a global perspective.
For more than ten years, beginning in 90-ies, V.A. Malyshev had been working in INRIA, Versailles, the leading French institution for applied mathematics. This led also to a creation of Russian-French scientific center at MSU. He played a significant role in the world-wide scientific collaboration of MSU with other leading mathematical centres. He himself organised lots of International mathematical conferences. Vadim Aleksandrovich had created an International mathematical School with many disciples. His former students are working nowadays in many universities all over the world, keeping strong links to MSU and continuing well-established traditions of Soviet and Russian mathematics.
V.A.Malyshev's scientific interests were rather wide; he always considered the whole mathematics as a single entity. His results are well-known in diverse and numerous areas of mathematics: in mathematical physics, probability, algebra, and analysis. Here are his main scientific achievements:
- He created a new analytical theory for two-dimensional Wiener – Hopf equations (actually, he did a lot more in this area, see the comments in Russian at http://iitp.ru/ru/news/2801.htm);
- He created and further developed new methods in the theory of random walks in multi-dimensional cones by using Lyapunov functions as well as the hydrodynamical approach;
- He started and developed a new direction in probability, random and quantum grammatics;
- In mathematical physics he introduced a new technique of cluster expansions for spectral problems in dynamical systems of infinitely many particles, and it is for this contribution that jointly with R.A. Minlos he was awarded with the State Prize of the Russian Federation.

Vadim Aleksandrovich Malyshev always had a broad view on life in a full spectrum, and he generously shared his ideas and personal views with his colleagues and friends. He published a book on his own philosophical system “Chains of qualitative complexity” (1997) (in Russian). V.A.Malyshev created a great number of different mathematical models to investigate different phenomena in nature, in physical and biological systems. He willingly attracted students, colleagues to solving new problems, igniting them with new projects, and helping them writing mathematical papers.
The width of his interests outside mathematics and their depth were incredible. He loved music and played piano excellently, and he gathered a large library of classical sheet music.
Vadim Aleksandrovich always had many plans, and generously shared his ideas with his colleagues and friends. He willingly attracted them to solving new problems and invited new and new colleagues to his projects therefore becoming their co-author. In the last few years, he was thinking about founding a new electronic mathematical journal based on completely new principles in comparison to how it is usually arranged nowadays.
He has also created his own system of keeping human health and energy. He wanted to understand how life develops and how to prolong the lifespan. His philosophical considerations and even his mathematical works in the last years were a possible path leading to a solution of this mystery...
Vadim Aleksandrovich Malyshev was clearly distinguished by his integrity, active citizenship, and care for people around him. During all his life he pro- fessed humanity in his attitude towards people. He was a great Man and Scientist.
